Abstract

Oxidative stress can adversely affect semen quality, causing damage and dysfunction of sperm. The correction of this factor with antioxidants is controversial and has been extensively studied. It was therefore carried out a literature review based on Pubmed seeking studies that were aimed at improving the quality of seminal fluid through the use of antioxidants. We found studies that confirmed an increase in pregnancy rates, production, motility and sperm count using oral supplementation and other studies did not obtain satisfactory results. Most studies have used drugs in this combination treatment.
