Abstract
The identification of the germinal vesicle (GV) of oocytes following stimulation for in vitro fertilization (IVF) suggests maturation arrest in prophase I stage of meiosis, identifiable by the observation of compact typical nucleolus. The cancellation of IVF cycles associated to persistence of GV is a frustrating experience for the infertile couple and the whole staff. It remains an unpredictable challenge for reproductive health services, with a few cases reported. We present a case of recurrent immature oocyte retrieval with all of them immature after controlled stimulation for IVF, followed by total failure of in vitro maturation (IVM), in a young patient with endometriosis.
